I wish my teacher was stricter
I’m not a good student.
I don’t practise hard enough.
I don’t practise dilligent enough.
And when I perform in front of my teacher, I ask all sorts of questions, more questions than actions.
I think my teacher knows I’m not practising enough.
I’m impatient to learn, but since I’m not getting anywhere soon or fast, it gets demotivating after a while.
I wish...

Impatient hybrid driver
If I were to buy a car, I would love to own a hybrid car. I believe it is a good interim solution to car ownership and environmentally friendly.
Imagine my horror when I saw someone driving Lexus hybrid while flooring the accelerator.
I don’t know what got the driver so impatient.
All I know is, if you own a hybrid car and drive like a mad man, there is no need to buy a hybrid. You will...

Impatient to create the perfect environment
I have been perfecting my virtual environment lately.
I am impatient to get things done, so having an environment which supports my impatience is very important.
I want to be in an environment where I can work continuously in a seamless manner, without fuss.
I want to move from one piece of work to another without any distraction.
I want to be able to stop worrying about whether I have the...

I am impatient, but that's ok
I am impatient. I know that now.
I have been impatient for a very long time. And I am in denial for a very long time as well. You see, I thought I was patient. Whenever I am with someone else, I can appear to be very patient. Because someone else will not affect me very much. Until someone makes a mistake that affects me.
But that’s ok.
The first step towards coping with impatience, is to...

Fighting the lollipop
While driving down the highway, the lollipops whoosh past me, urging me to keep to the speed limit. My right foot however, urged me into depression. I did. I went faster.
My impatience tells me that I should ignore the speed limit.
My tai chi training tells me I too should ignore the speed limit, but for a different reason.
It tells me that I should move with the traffic. If the traffic is...

Impatient to make a decision
The world now seems to favour those who can make quick decisions.
These people gets granted the accolade of being decisive. They are normally labelled as a good leader.
There are certain times when quick decisions are necessary. Times when someone is drowning, when a car is about to hit you, when someone is about to kill you…
It seems like only when you’re in a mortal danger that a...

Avoiding my late habit
I have a late habit, and this causes a lot of impatience.
I like to be late for a few minutes, even though I don’t need to be late. I know exactly when I need to leave the door to have my meeting, but I always end up just a few minutes late. These few minutes always raises the impatient temperature.
I now account for this late habit, by leaving early. I know I have a 15 minutes...

Your wrong makes me impatient
I often focus on what is wrong with the other person.
It is always other people’s wrong that makes me perform badly.
It is always other people’s mistakes that makes me want to kill myself.
I am impatient with other people’s stupidity.
I can only perform when other people doesn’t fuck it up.
And one day, I fucked up.
And then other people starts to feel impatient with...

Avoid impatience, make your bag puke
Every time I come home, I’ll throw my bag on the floor.
The bag will stay on the floor until the next time I head out.
At this next time, I will fumble around to look for the keys, the wallet, that piece of paper where I wrote something important, the name card of the person I am suppose to meet…
I will become very impatient as I am already late for my appointment.

Impatient to save money
This is a reader’s story from Get Rich Slowly.
The story is about how a couple suffered because they were impatient to save a lot of money.
Now, they have found their own balance in their life.
Please read this heart-warming story.
It’s a nice reminder to all of us that being impatient to save a lot is also bad for you.
All human wisdom is summed up in these two words — wait and hope.

Impatient to make a silly amount of money
Some people call themselves investors.
I call them impatient investors.
When they invest, they want to make money in the long term.
What they really mean, is to make money in the next 5 minutes.
Because when they put their $100 in, they expect it to become $200 in the next 5 minutes. $500 in the next 5 days. $1000 in the next 5 years.
If everyone could invest in something like this, we will...

From impatience to passion
Sometimes, I’m glad I’m impatient.
When I’m impatient, I get rid of noise.
When I’m impatient, I scrub away the dirt so hard that they do not have a chance to be dirt.
When I’m impatient, I focus on my passion, and only my passion.
Nothing else comes close.
Focus on your passion.
Focus on the one thing that you want to do when you’re impatient.
Suddenly,...

The impatient student turned teacher
I remember when I first got the chance to teach.
I did a brain dump.
My students were of course overwhelmed with information that they stopped asking. Some even stopped coming.
I was impatient to turned the younglings into me.
They were impatient to get to the end of the class.
Luckily, they didn’t turn into me.
I find this common among new teachers. Their eagerness to teach makes them...

Tumblr is so refreshing
For an impatient person like me, I have to say, I find Tumblr very refreshing.
I have used wordpress, livejournal, typepad, blogger, twitter… even facebook.
Nothing comes close to tumblr.
I love wordpress, and I love twitter.
Somehow, tumblr is a cross between them.
All I need to focus on, is what content to post, and tumblr recognises it so well that it expands to a long post when...
Getting rid of cable TV
I hate it when the cable TV is not working.
I hate it when I come home from work, I can’t get to watch TV, because that is my only salvation from the savages of life.
I hate it when I have to call the cable guy, only to be put on hold indefinitely, going through menus of “please press 1 if you are impatient, press 2 if you feel like killing yourself, press 3 if you’re on the...

Less steps, less impatient
Do you know how many steps does it take to pay your bill?
I’ll list down a list below and see how many can you identify with.
wait for bill to come
check for bill in the letter box
open up the bill
check when is the pay by date before any penalty is incurred
check that the bank account has sufficient money to pay the bill
write a cheque to pay the bill
always try to remember to post...

Impatient to get served
What is taking that waiter so long for that glass of water? How long does it take to cook a chicken? Are they going to some farm now to pick the cow to be slaughtered?
When we are a customer, we seem to demand the world.
Why is the fish not cooked? Why is my steak overdone? Didn’t I order the salad an hour ago? Where is my menu? I’ve asked for the wine list an hour ago… That...

Can tomorrow come any sooner?
Are you waiting for a new fridge?
Are you waiting for the delivery of a new car?
Are you waiting for your exam results?
For some, they just can’t wait for tomorrow to come.
For others, they just wish for a longer today, and hope that tomorrow never comes.
Just ask the one waiting to go on death row tomorrow.
Or the one who’s saying goodbye to his girlfriend tomorrow.
Or the one...

Impatient to get somewhere?
Sometimes, I just get furious about getting stuck at traffic. I want to just fly over all the other losers in front of me and shout out:
so long, suckers…
This is when I realise I could have done much much better, before I even step out the door. I believe these questions are a useful checklist to avoid getting impatient.
Do I need to be physically present at the destination?
Will a phone...

Avoid unnecessary impatience, don't buy that thing
One of the ways to avoid unnecessary impatience, is not buy that thing in the first place.
You might think that modern technology solves our life’s little problems one bit at a time.
Most of the time, I think it creates more problem than it solves, because the new technology has not been tested by time.
And since it has not been tested by time, the new technology employs you, the...

Impatient to cook
Of all the things I am impatient with, I am not impatient to cook.
When I get hungry, I eat first, then cook. Think junk food.
When I cook, I get lost in the cooking.
It’s like creating a symphony from the very first note, not knowing which note will come next.
Slowly, the ingredients will come together and eventually, dance together.
If I truly enjoyed myself, my tongue will too, when...

Even a baby is impatient
And I thought impatience is a product of growing up.
Sometimes, when the time comes, the time comes. There is no waiting.
Even a baby can be born at a road intersection, without much warning.
I don’t think this is an example of impatience.
The is actually an example of nature.
There is only nature’s time.
It is our own conflict with nature’s time that gives birth to...

Thank you for your impatience
Sometimes all it takes to diffuse the impatience now, is to say thank you.
Thank you for showing me how I can improve myself.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to learn.
Thank you for being so brutally honest with me.
Thank you for your impatience.
You do not actually have to say it out loud. You just need to understand that by showing gratitude to the universe, you are giving yourself...
