1. Impatient to get served

What is taking that waiter so long for that glass of water? How long does it take to cook a chicken? Are they going to some farm now to pick the cow to be slaughtered?

When we are a customer, we seem to demand the world.

Why is the fish not cooked? Why is my steak overdone? Didn’t I order the salad an hour ago? Where is my menu? I’ve asked for the wine list an hour ago… That table got served earlier than us! We arrived first…

Somehow, when we are a customer, everyone else is obligated to do our bidding. Suddenly, we don’t need to treat them with respect. Suddenly, it is our right for them to serve us and only us, no one else.

May I remind you that it is still another human being that is serving us?

The same human being eats and shits like you. That same human being walks and talks like you. That very human being runs and falls like you. We all grow old and is at the mercy of time.

So what makes you so special that you can treat another human being with your impatience?
