1. Avoid impatience, make your bag puke

Every time I come home, I’ll throw my bag on the floor.

The bag will stay on the floor until the next time I head out.

At this next time, I will fumble around to look for the keys, the wallet, that piece of paper where I wrote something important, the name card of the person I am suppose to meet…

I will become very impatient as I am already late for my appointment.

    ——-

I find that this impatience can be dissolved by simply checking my pockets when I come home.

Instead of throwing my bag on the floor, I make sure my bag throw up.

I make sure my bag cough up all the items that is within it:

    • keys
    • notes
    • files
    • receipts
    • bits of paper
    • pamphlets
    • etc

Then, I make sure all these items have a home. There must be a place for keys. There must be a place for receipts. If the item has no home, there is always the bin.

Home or bin. There is no in between.

Just be sure to purge the bag as cleanly as you can. Even lint has no home on your bag. You will avoid the impatience when you go out the next time, especially when you’re using a different bag.
